I hear this over and over every summer "I applied sunscreen but I still got tanned or burned" or "I use sunscreen and kept applying every 2 hours like you recommended but still got tanned." If this is the case eitherthe SPF is not strong enough for your skin type, the sunscreen expired, or you were not being diligent enough with how much you put on your skin or did not reapply like you should have. I know some people still feel it is attractive to have color but being tan or burned means that your skins DNA is being change and the coloring that is associated with being tan is actually your skins mechanism that it is being damaged. The free radical damage associated with being tanned or burned wreaks havoc on not only your skin but also internally. Free radicals are unstable molecules that will pair up with the cells in your skin and cause major issues like cancer, lower immunity, premature aging etc. Please think about the damage you are doing when you are literally "cooking your skin." There are so many great self tanners, we do Airbrush Tanning that is fabulous as an option to get healthier color. This is 2011 gone is the day where tanning is associated with being healthy! |
